SME News Northern Enterprise Award 2020

Cabinet of Curiosity Studio recognised as creatives of the year by a Northern business award.

The enterprise award celebrates and promotes businesses across the UK and in the North of England. Businesses are selected through nomination with the awards team shortlisting and selecting businesses they consider to be the most innovative. Both Caroline and Edmond are pleased to have their achievements recognised after ten years’ working in the creative industries.

 Arts Council National Lottery Project Grant Award

Cabinet of Curiosity Studio has received an Arts Council England National Lottery Project Grant for a project that will explore architecture and making.


Grand Constructions is a participatory arts project that will use arts, making and design to explore the architectural and industrial heritage of the North East of England. The project has been commissioned by Creative Darlington as part of their New in Town programme to support original creative projects informed by place and local heritage. The project commences March 2021. 

Funding and support in kind for this project has been provided by Arts Council England, Creative Darlington and Head of Steam Darlington Railway Museum.

Arts Council Developing Your Creative Practice Grant Award

Edmond has been awarded an Arts Council England grant to support his craft and digital practice involving wood materials for sustainable making.

The award will enable time and space to research, experiment and enhance his craft by exploring timber techniques and fabrication processes that can be used to create new work suitable for outdoor environments.  The ambition is to develop his practice by exploring timber materials and techniques that will innovate the work made by Cabinet of Curiosity Studio and provide future exhibition opportunities in the public realm.

Origami Workshops with Highlights Rural Touring Scheme

Cabinet of Curiosity Studio will be delivering Japanese paper craft workshops for Highlights Rural Touring Scheme Makers Menu


Learn how to apply Japanese folding techniques to paper materials and create an origami lampshade. A creative paper folding workshop which is suitable for all levels from complete beginners through to advanced paper crafters wishing to learn a new technique. This workshop is designed to build confidence and freedom when working with paper.  The workshops will take place March 2021 and will feature alongside a programme of creative events and performances across Cumbria, County Durham and Northumberland. Further details regarding these workshops will be available shortly.  Visit the Highlights Rural Touring Scheme website for more details.
