Seaside Souvenir

“Seaside Souvenir” was a participatory art project designed to explore Blyth’s architectural landmarks and seaside views through engaging paper crafts. The initiative invited children and families to create paper architectural models, with activities accessible both in person and online. Participants created unique paper souvenirs to commemorate Blyth’s coastal area and architecture, serving as meaningful keepsakes.
Targeted at children aged 8 to 11 years, the project involved delivering a series of art workshops at the new Market Pavilion venue. The workshops involved participants creating a seaside souvenir scene of Blyth using paper craft techniques. We also designed a limited-edition series of souvenir postcards that could be paper-crafted into miniature paper seaside scenes of Blyth that were distributed through the libraries, our workshops and The Kings Head Gallery and Cafe. The series of three postcards featured architectural scenes of Blyth Library, Blyth Pier Lighthouse and the High Light Lighthouse on Bath Terrace. Additionally, a series of architectural paper models were displayed as a pop-up exhibition in Blyth Libraries and the window spaces of the Kings Head Gallery.

It was delivered by Northumberland County Council, funded by the UK Government, Northumberland County Council and North East Combined Authority, with support from other partners.
