London Lines

London Lines for Jaybird Live Literature was a participatory activity about London boroughs with a temporary installation of the city made from poetry postcards installed and exhibited during the Southbank Centre's Festival of Neighbourhood programme of events.

Members of the public were invited to leave their memories of London boroughs on Cabinet of Curiosity's illustrated cards for an installation that was assembled as a live event within the ballroom space at the Southbank Centre. The cards were mounted onto maps of each London borough to create a city of memories that grew over the duration of the weekend-long activity.

London-based poets used participants' recollections of London as the inspiration for original new poems written about each of the London boroughs. The poems were performed live at the end of the weekend event and incorporated on printed cards within the final installation. The installation was initially a two day event but was extended beyond the original weekend timeframe due to its popularity amongst audiences.
