Paper Menagerie

Forest of Imagination is an award-winning arts event that uses contemporary art to explore creative place making and alternative experiences of nature through the temporary transformation of familiar city spaces in Bath.

Cabinet of Curiosity created an outdoor installation for Forest of Imagination focused on endangered species. Using recycled cardboard and paper materials the studio created a colourful paper menagerie of lemurs, giant chameleons and birds. The laser cut, folded and painted cardboard creatures were suspended from the branches of a tree within Bath for the duration of the festival. The installation was complimented by a soundscape by Martyn Ware using sounds of the Madagascan forests to transform the city square into a tropical forest.

Forest of Imagination offers an immersive experience that is inspired by nature and encourages adults and children to enjoy their own imagination and creativity. The event is a showcase for Bath as a hotbed of innovation and artistic exploration.
